These hymns have been a source of comfort and inspiration for our family. My parents raised me on this music and tried by their loving example to show me the "good road", a road I have found so hard across the years to stay upon. Throughout my life I turned to this music when I was in need. Over the years, on many a sleepless night, I could be found alone in my room, playing and singing these hymns. |

"Drawing for this release from six previous CDs, Native American flute player Golaná set out to release a collection of his most relaxing and meditative tracks — and he has certainly succeeded. These 11 songs are a musical balm, soothing the heart the easing the mind. The opening ("Call to Prayer") and closing ("Magic Canyons") tracks are solo flute mediations while the remaining nine feather other assorted instruments including keyboards, cello, violin, acoustic guitar, piano, and muted hand drums. While maintaining a serene mood throughout, the music's song-by-song character varies: New Age ("Lone Pine Canyon"), rural folkish ("Beloved"), and cinematic ("Cloud's Rest"). Regardless of Golaná's chosen musical motif, First Light aptly illustrates how special an artist he is and just why his appeal is so broad. "

"Golana is a master of the Native American flute who has been making music for over a decade, and has racked up ten NAMMY
nominations in the process. One of the factors that makes his music so enjoyable is that his music has a lot of heart in it, not to mention a pervading sense of serenity. Both of those qualities are
plentiful on MIRROR LAKE, which was inspired by the scenic mountainscapes of Southern California. Golana's flute is front and center on each of these compositions, with backing from Charlie Bisharat on
violin, David Chamberlin on keyboards, Cameron Stone on cello and Scott Hartley and Rodger Whitten on piano. The mix of Native influences and classical instrumentation gives the music a nice blend of
elegance and earthiness that will take you to a place of tranquility. "

"We  have  reviewed Feather On The Wind, his latest release, and Walk Between Worlds, and have found them to be among the best examples of the native flute
we have heard. This is truly music that the heart can feel."

Jim Praytor (Standing Fox) - Great Circle News

"I don't believe I have ever heard anything lovlier in my life!!  I sat in sort of a trance the entire CD with big tears in my eyes.  Scott's technique
with the Native American flute is so much richer and fuller than other NA flute players and the accompanying instruments make such a difference in the total presentation of the music.  I didn't
think "Walk Between Worlds" could be beaten but Scott did it."

that lovely way we all expect from this genre. I would say that it's probably the first true crossover Native American cd. It's pop influenced Native music, rather than Native influenced pop music. Thanks for
